Alhamdulillah, I graduated!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

6 Mei 2026, which was exactly 10 days yang lalu, saya menghadiri convocation buat kali pertama. For the first time, for real. Merasa jugak naik pentas ambil scroll. Masa degree and Master's tak ada rezeki. Alhamdulillah, rezeki digantikan dengan yang saya kira kenangan paling indah because I was seated next to my dad.

What a way to end this long, long journey.

Maybe in the other entry, saya cuba menulis sesuatu yang lebih reflective, but for now, I need to get my mental load off my brain of how the day went.

Pagi-pagi 6 Mei, kami bersiap awal, as early as 4 in the morning, sebab lepas Subuh nak gerak UiTM Shah Alam. Our sidang was scheduled at 7:30 a.m. Tambahan pula, it was a weekday, so kena consider the traffic flow.

We own an EV. Unfortunately, pagi tu battery tinggal 9%, which means it should allow us to go about 40+ km lagi. Walaupun UiTM Shah Alam tu within walking distance je dari hotel, tapi kalau dah terpusing-pusing cari parking, nervous jugak ya kalau tak cukup mileage tu? 😥

It was a very heart-pumping morning, but we decided to take a breath and convo dulu.

Kenapa tak charge semalam? Well, blame me because I was too cerdik to prioritize my tiredness the night before and THOUGHT it should not be THAT chaotic.

Once sampai dewan, kitorang get in the queue. So, we had our numbers. Ayah saya number A108 and mine A108A. Since it was my first time graduating, I had all of my "in case" stuff in the big tote bag. Handheld fan, mineral water, pins, mints etc #nervousbethol

I donned a cream baju kurung moden beli dekat TikTok. I like it. Ada sikit design and beads, but not too extravagant. Just the way I prefer. Simple simple saja hehe.

I am so grateful that I had a conversation weeks earlier with the girl sitting at the table next to mine. She was way ahead of Gen Z and presentable, so I do not regret following her advice since I am too old for the current fashion trend, but at the same time, I don't want to flop my only day.

Still, I surely masih suka buat kerja last minute. Nak gerak KL Isnin petang, hari Ahad malam merayu-rayu dengan akak tailor untuk kecilkan bahagian sleeve ye. Melampau betul, nasib baik akak tu nak layankan. Hehe thank you akak lurve sangat pukul 10 malam hari Ahad tu pergi pickup baju tapi cerdik kuasa dua, I still had the audacity to basuh baju alter malam tu jugak!

Nak dryer tak boleh sebab bermanik, all of that was JUST BECAUSE it was a new baju so kononnya kalau basuh, fabric dia flowy sikit. 😏

A few minutes in the hall, we were guided by the university officers to take our seats. DATC tu besar betul. It took us a while in the hall, sementara menunggu ketibaan all the important and respected guests. Once we were informed of the Queen's arrival, bermulalah konvo kami.

Instead of feeling anxious, my work mode terfikir. First, power betul corporate or convocation or whoever team that leads this event sebab sangatlah memenatkan and almost 0 percent of possible mistakes.

Second, I can only imagine how their contigency prep, since changes can abruptly happen, walaupun semuanya dah thoroughly plan.

Alhamdulillah I am so thankful that I get to be a part of this.

A few minutes in, we were approached by another officer. He mentioned to us that we should be expecting a media session once turun dari pentas.

Fast forward, sampailah turn kami ambil scroll. Turun saja stage, we were pulled out of the hall and were seated at one big table with plenty of journalists. They came from different media channels tapi masa tu kami tak boleh nak agak from where sebab all of them were dressed in black suits and baju kurung.

Hehe feeling betul jawab soalan-soalan media. Other than that, we had interviews with internal channels from UITM. It was indeed a one-of-a-kind experience for me, walaupun that's basically what I do at work. To communicate and to make an appearance, but my personality deviates from what I am doing.

But memang dah begitu aturan alam. Yang tak sangka tu lah yang mendapat sangat, yet Alhamdulillah for everything.

Once selesai, we had a photoshoot session and a brief media photography. Flashes were everywhere and we had to do a couple of "raw, unfiltered, newspaper-style" poses. Not only my dad and I, but also the whole family. Funnily enough, my brother's formal shoes were left in the car, so he had to wear my mom's dusty pink Skechers.

Two bouquets of fresh flowers from my family

The aesthetics were out of the picture, but it was not the perfection that we aimed for, but moments that never come back.

Once we were done with media and photoshoot, we then made our way out of UiTM to charge the almost-towed car.

Where? How? What's next?

Till next entry lah hehe!
